To Beard or Not?
These days, the best accessory for a man isn’t a tailored suit or a piece of arm candy, it’s a beard!
Considering the number of men you see on a daily basis, from full grown bushy beards to “fashionista” stubble, it appears to be a well-accepted grooming practice to grow facial hair.
Beards have become a prominent feature on the celebrity red carpet and the catwalks in recent years, and that trend has fed through to the high street. Many celebrities now sport a beard, such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Zac Effron and David Beckham, to mention but a few.
The truth is, not every facial hair style will work on every face, choose from a barely there designer stubble, a well-trimmed goatee to a moustache/beard combo.
Beard sporters have been fashionable in recent years, but is it now time to reach for the razor?
There are lots of misconceptions about growing a beard:
· It can take 2-3 months for most guys to have a full grown beard
· Beards improve through your 20s and 30s, sometimes into your 40s
· Beards can make you feel cooler in summer because it shades your face
· Not only dark beards look good, guys with fair-haired, red, grey and white have potential to grow excellent beards, the result of how the colour reflects the sunlight
· All parts of the beard do not grow at the same rate, cheeks often grow in slower than chin hair.
· Most beards are not usually itchy after the initial growing period, once past the stubble phase most beards get significantly softer to touch.
· Shaving your beard will not make it grow quicker.
A beard can project confidence in the man, which in turn will affect how others respond to you. Embrace what you have, and wear it like the Man you are!

What is a Millennial?
A Millennial or Generation Y, (or sometimes known as the Net Generation) are the demographic population that immediately follows Generation X.
What exactly is the Millenial Generation?
The term Millenial is considered to apply to an individual who reaches adulthood around the turn of the 21st century. Overall, the earliest proposed birth date for a Millenial is 1976, and the latest, 2004.
How they differ from other generations
Millenials have grown up in an increasing on-line, socially networked and electronics-filled world. As a generation they have received the most marketing attention. They tend to be more confident, ethnically diverse and optimistic with sometimes unrealistic expectations.
Everyone, companies, brands and marketers are obsessed with Millenials. They are rather complex to understand, but they comprise the largest demographic in the country. 75% own a smartphone, they thrive on social media, using it not only for networking but also for current affairs, along with an infinity for image sharing platforms such as Snapchat, Instagram and You Tube.
The dining habits of Millenials are greatly different to that of their parents. They eat out more often than Baby Boomers and Generation X, according to analysts. Whereas previous generations counted calories, Millenials are more concerned about the food being "fresh, and less-processed".
Problems encountered reaching this target audience
Millenials are far more aware of advertising and marketing than any previous generation, and are far more skeptical about the nature of commercial advertising, likely to not respond if they feel they are being targeted for sales.
Technology has superseded traditional marketing methods, which most marketeers are failing to understand.
How companies reach this Millenial market
With such a diverse group, marketing towards Millenials is approached mainly by on-line methods.
* Mobile marketing
With landing pages optimised for SEO, less graphics for speedier loading of pages, using Apps with greater ease and application of product.
* Target social groups
Instead of targeting Millenials on life stages as in previous generations, focus is on their social groups. Milestones like purchasing a home are less attainable for many Millenials, as a result of the economic challenges they face.
* Engaging and relevant marketing
Products and advertising needs to be relevant, engaging and building community, as services and commodities are shared.
* Making it easy to purchase online
Once you have captured the attention, purchasing the item online should be as easy as possible, with the least input required.
This year, it is expected that Millenials will overtake Baby Boomers as the nation's largest, living generation. Representing approximately 75 million of the population, they are considered to be the most connected, diverse, creative and educated generation alive today, not to mention that they are taking over the world as parents. Statistics show that 22 percent (one in five) mothers is a Millenial mum, equal to around 9 million adults.
Other statistics show that Millenials will be the largest generation of the workforce of 2015
Although there are clear contrasts existing between Millenials and prior generations, these are to be expected as Millenials re-invent what it is to be successful in a rapidly changing world.

Is decaffeinated coffee a healthier choice?
According to the National Coffee Association, ten percent of coffee drinkers drink decaffeinated coffee, with sales from roasters and coffee house being slightly higher.
Many people who drink decaf coffee do so because it will not keep them awake at night, nor cause them to have chest palpitations or jitters as normal coffee drinkers sometimes experience. Some think it is better for them than regular coffee, or does the process to decaffeinate represent a health risk?
The process of decaffeination
Decaffeination will reduce the amount of caffeine in a coffee bean, yet without markedly affecting its flavour.
All decaf coffee contains a small amount of caffeine, the standards state that decaffeinated coffee must have at least 97% of caffeine removed. There are various methods of removing caffeine, such as running green coffee beans through a bath of water or steam, which causes the coffee beans to swell. Caffeine is then extracted using a chemical solvent or water, the beans are then washed clean and allowed to dry to remove moisture, before roasting takes place.
An alternative process of removing the caffeine from beans is with carbon dioxide, or the Swiss Water Method which extracts the caffeine through a carbon filter.
“Naturally” decaffeinated coffee is usually manufactured without using harsh chemicals, but if you are in any doubt, contact us at …………. for knowledgeable advice.
The benefits of decaffeination
You may find that you are sensitive to the effects of caffeine, yet may tolerate a decaf version better. While effects vary from person to person, caffeine is known to stimulate the nervous system to make you feel more alert, awake and with a wider ability to concentrate.
This process of decaffeination still leaves some cafestrol in the beans, a substance which will enhance the production of bile acid, and produce effective anti-inflammatory properties that benefit the brain.
Decaf coffee provides high levels of anti-oxidants, which are known to prevent the ageing process and cancer. Studies have shown that regular decaf drinkers have a reduced risk of having colon cancer, and for female drinkers of decaf, the risk of breast cancer is reduced.
During the decaffeination process, the polyphenols found in the coffee beans are retained, and are responsible for boosting the cognitive abilities of the brain and for improving memory.
The downsides of decaf coffee
As with the benefits of drinking decaffeinated coffee, there are of course arguments why you should not drink it. Studies have shown that the levels of a specific cholesterol in the blood may be increased, as often caffeine free coffee is made from a bean that has a higher fat content, and in consequence may have a detrimental effect on your heart.
The decaffeination process may have used chemicals or solvents to remove the caffeine from the beans.
As not all caffeine is removed during the process, a drinker who has 5-10 cups of decaf coffee a day, is drinking the equivalent dose of 1-2 cups of regular coffee.
The choices should be based on your own findings and understanding of the drawbacks and benefits of both types of coffee, and your own health history. Studies have been conducted that can prove the health benefits of decaffeinated coffee and while it may not perk you up like a regular coffee will, it will go a long way to ensure long life and good health.
